International Lutheran - Roman Catholic Dialogue files (1978- 1984) contain correspondence, reports, statements, papers, publication drafts, and news releases regarding the English version publication of the Dialogues' Joint Commission statement, "The Eucharist" (1978); Lutheran World Ministries (LWM) and others' responses to the Dialogues' statements, "The Eucharist" (1978) and "The Ministry in the Church" (1981); consulation arrangements and financial matters; and the creation and publication of statements regarding the Augsburg Confession (1980), "The Ministry in the Church" (1981), and the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's birth (1983). Files are those of Eugene L. Brand in his capacity as Director of the LWM's Office on Studies. Correspondents include Lutheran World Federation officials; LWM officials; John F. Hotchkin, Director of the Bishops' Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops; and Dialogue participants including Vilmos Vajta of the Institute for Ecumenical Research (Strasbourg, France).
